Welcoming Words
The World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (WFCMS) in conjunction with South Africa’s Chinese Medicine societies and Universities would like to organize the International Cooperation and Development Conference of Chinese Medicine in South Africa. The main aims of the Conference are to improve the cooperation and communication between China and African countries in term of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to better serve Africa’s public health care system; to extend the development of TCM in Africa; to set up a new universal forum brand, which it is believed will attract more related societies to join the communication and development of TCM in Africa; and finally to better understand the developing status, opportunities and challenges of TCM in Africa.

A. Study on TCM management and developing strategy
u  The developing status, opportunities and challenges of TCM in China.
u  The significant functions of TCM in the public healthcare system in China and the criterion/ management of TCM treatment Acts
u  The safety, effects and Good Agriculture Practice (GAP) criterion of medicinal plants in TCM
u  The approach and model on TCM co-operation between China and African Nations
u  The study on international standardizing of TCM
u  The strategy of TCM education, treatment and research development in South Africa
     B. Study on TCM basic theory
u  The review and trend of the specificity of acupoints
u The review of basic pharmacological theories of TCM
u   The application of modern research methodology in traditional medicine clinical trials and the establishment of a self-evaluation system of TCM
C. The critical disease prevention and application of universal skills in TCM
u  The guidance of acupuncture practice
u  The progress of TCM on prevention, treatment and research of cancer (breast cancer, cervical cancer and lung cancer)
u  The progress of TCM on prevention, treatment and research of diabetes and obesity
u  The progress of acupuncture on prevention, treatment and research of substance abuse (diamorphine, methamphetamine)
u  The study of acupuncture clinical trials
D. Developing and research of traditional medicine in Africa and China
u  The developing status, opportunities and challenges of traditional medicine in South Africa
u  The international generalization of traditional medicine and indigenous herbs and intellectual property rights protection
u  The developing status, characteristics, advantages, opportunities, challenges and trends of traditional medicine in African countries and China
u  The study of South African herbs in terms of their nature, taste and effects according to TCM
u  The study of academic characteristics of traditional medicine and advantages of clinical trials
